| How to use a bow stringer.
We recommend that you use an archery bow stringer to string your archery recurve bow because this is a difficult operation and you can damage your bow without one. If you are unsure get help.
1. Distinguish the upper limb from the lower limb (the lower bow limb shows the label with indications of the bow measurements and power).
2. Fix the upper limb in its appropriate space on the bow riser (handle), making sure that it is well aligned and hand tighten the screws. Repeat the same operation for the lower limb.
3. The string has a loop at each end. The larger of the loops goes over the upper limb. Do not put this loop in the groove at the end of the limb. The small loop goes in the groove at the end of the lower limb.
4. Take the bow stringer, it has a saddle one end and a cup the other. Slide the saddle loop of the stringer over the top limb. Push the cup of the stringer over the other limb tip, making sure the string stays in the groove provided.
5. Take the handle of the bow and block the stringer with your foot, as shown in the illustration.
6. Pull the bow handle vertically to bend the bow. Put pressure on the saddle whilst bending the bow, to stop the saddle sliding down the bow.
7. When the bow limbs are sufficiently bent, the bow stringer should remain in place and allow you to slowly slide the string up to the notch on the tip of the limb.
8. Release slowly and remove the bow stringer. Make sure the string is correctly positioned in the grooves at the back of the bow. |
