Or cushion plunger.
The pressure button is used when shooting the bow. It absorbs energy, like a shock absorber, to keep the arrow going 'straight on' towards the target.
Regularly check and clean the button: unscrew the grub screw holding the rear collar and unscrew the collar to expose the spring and plunger. Make sure these are clean and undamaged. DO NOT add oil or any other lubricant.
