Health and Safety
Archery is a safe and enjoyable sport for all the family. However, bows used carelessly can cause serious harm to self and others. None of the bows we sell are toys and advice should always be sought if you are new to archery. The following are just a few of the health and safety aspects that need to be considered:
* Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
* Always use the bow weight which is the correct weight and size for you.
* Always check the your equipment for any damage before shooting.
* Always do warm up exercises before shooting.
* Only draw a bow when facing the target.
* Ensure that targets are securely on the stands and that the stand is secure on the ground.
* Two people should lift a target onto the stand.
* When pulling arrows from a target make sure no one is standing behind you. Make sure the target is secure on the stand and will not fall when you pull the arrows.
* Always have a field captain who has control of the shooting session.
* Make sure the archery range is clear of obstacles. Doors that open onto the shooting area are a hazard. People could walk into the shooting area through an unlocked door.
* Waiting archers and spectators must always stand behind the waiting line.
* Always wait for a command before shooting. |
